Alanya Castle in Antalya

Most of the fortress was built in the 13th century in the Sultanate of the Seljuq Seljuk state, where it was built in 1220 by Aladdin Kekabad I as part of a construction campaign, the fortress was built on remnants of the Byzantine era and the fortifications of the Roman period. After being calm under the Ottoman Empire, the fortress ceased to be purely defensive, and many villas were built within its walls during the 19th century. Today the building is an open-air museum. But much of its area from the inside is not open to the general public. The castle is located at a height of 250 meters (820 feet) on a rocky peninsula stretching in the Mediterranean Sea, which is protected from three sides of the wall surrounding the castle is 6.5 km (4.0 miles), and the castle contains 140 towers and 400 different wells to serve the castle. [1] In 2009, city officials made a request to add it to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, which was added to the initial list in the same year.
