Berlin partially cancels travel warning to Turkey and Turkey welcomes them

The German Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that the travel advisory to Turkey had been partially cancelled, covering only four states.

In a statement, it said it had cancelled the travel advisory to Antalya, Mugla, Izmir and Aydin states, indicating that it had cancelled the travel advisory to the four states, provided that preventive measures approved by the Turkish government were adhered to to the spread of the Coronavirus.

The German Foreign Ministry required its nationals to conduct a corona test in Turkey, 48 hours before their return to the country.

Last March, the German government issued a global travel warning to its citizens, urging them to avoid unnecessary travel abroad, in conjunction with general closures in all countries to combat Corona.

In a continuing context, the Federation of German Travel Agencies (DRV), welcomed Berlin's decision to lift the partial travel warning imposed on Turkey due to the Corona pandemic.

In a statement, The Federation's President Norbert Vibig said the German Foreign Ministry had lifted the travel advisory on the Turkish states of Aydin, Antalya, Izmir and Mugla.

He added that lifting the ban would mean allowing travel to one of The Germans' most sought-after holiday destinations, saying: "This is good news not only for vacationers, but also for the tourism and travel sector," according to Anatolia.

He noted that there had been an increase in bookings recently, particularly in September and October, stressing that this would be beneficial to Turkey.

Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Erdoi said his country is ready to welcome German tourists through the Safe Tourism Certificateprogram.

He added in a tweet, saying: "Germany has cancelled the travel advisory to the states of Aydin, Mugla, Izmir and Antalya in western Turkey."

"Turkey is ready to welcome German tourists through the Safe Tourism Certificates program."

The German foreign ministry's decision follows major efforts by the Turkish foreign ministries, tourism and culture, where Foreign Minister Mouloud Charoshoglu and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Arssoy visited Germany in July and discussed with their counterparts to lift the travel warning.
