Turkey receives 10 million tourists in eight months of 2020
Despite the spread of the coronavirus in the country, the good news for tourism in Turkey in 2020 seemed promising for more tourists in the coming months of this year.
According to statements issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey on Tuesday, which occurred on 29/09/2020, the number of foreign tourists arriving in Turkey during the eight months of this year has reached 10 million.
According to these statements, the total number of tourists in Turkey reached 9 million, 271,660 tourists, between January and August 2020.
According to a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, the number of Turks living abroad, who came to visit Turkey during the period in question, was 2,16,553 tourists, among the overall average of tourists.
Ranking of foreign nationalities according to the number of tourists in Turkey
In terms of the most nationalities coming to Turkey, from January to August 2020, German nationality topped the list of foreign nationalities, which entered the tourism target in Turkey in 2020, with an average of 789,602 tourists.
Russian citizens came in second with 72,686 tourists, with Bulgarians in third place with 532,417.
As for the figures for last August, The Russians came in first among foreign nationalities, which came to Turkey, with 439,731 tourists, followed by the English in second place with 260,846 tourists, and Ukrainians in third place with 255,651 tourists.
When comparing current figures with those released in the same period, last year 2019, we see a significant decline in the number of tourists, due to the effects of the Corona pandemic, by 73.94 percent.
According to statistics issued by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, turkey's tourism sector recorded a record 51.7 million tourists in 2019, with 51.7 million tourists, and the Ministry of Tourism of Turkey achieved a significant revenue of $34.5 million.
