Kemer , the rural district is in the Gulf of Antalya .İt's by the sea coast with the Taurus Mountains behind.
In the Ottoman Era, a long stone wall was built to protect the city from the flooding of the mountain stream water. As a result of building the wall, the city has got the name Kemer , which means the belt.
Kemer consists of many villages ;like Beldebi , Göynük and Tekirova.
Due to Kemer's natural and exceptional beauty, tourism is given an importance. Many beaches, hotels and tourist villages are established.
Every year, Kemer hosts tourists from other countries especially Russia. Tourists can enjoy the clean beaches and the old ruins in Kemer City and the surrounding historical sites, like Olympos and Phasilis, or going up the Mount Tahtali by chair lifts.
