Al-Azm Palace:

A Jewel of Damascene Architecture and the Charm of Ancient History

If you want to experience a visual journey that takes you back to the 18th century, then your first destination must be Al-Azm Palace. The palace is located in a strategic area between the Umayyad Mosque and Souq "Midhat Pasha" (the Straight Street), making it the beating heart of Old Damascus.

Historical Overview

The palace was built in 1749 by the governor of Damascus, As'ad Pasha al-Azm. Its construction took three years and involved the most skilled craftsmen and workers (around 800 laborers).

Architectural Layout (Brilliant Design)

The palace covers an area of approximately 6,400 square meters and features a design that separates public and private life into three main sections:

Haramlek: The largest section, designated for the family and women, containing the most beautiful halls, gardens, and fountains.

Salamlek: The section for receiving guests and men, as well as holding official meetings.

Khadamlek: A wing designated for servants, kitchens, and storage areas.
